Installation of New Master 2004

On the 2nd Friday in October we installed our 85th Worshipful Master. At a very enjoyable ceremony we were graced with over 70 guests including visitors from Lodge of Three Graces No. 408, Alfred Lodge No. 306, Facula Lodge No. 4825, Prince of Wales Lodge No. 1648 and fraternal visits from Benevolence Lodge No. 5612 Pudsey, Lascelles Lodge No. 4796 Wetherby both in the Province of Yorkshire, West Riding, the Lodge of Old Clee No. 8697 Cleethorpes in the Province of Lincolnshire, and the Theodore R Montgomery Lodge No 123 under the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Maryland and Jurisdiction F & A M of R A F Menwith Hill, United Kingdom. Bros. Cooper and Johnson from the Lodge of Charity had previously met our visiting US brethren whilst attending a third degree ceremony at Doric Lodge No. 2695, in Harrogate Both were very pleased to renew friendships with Worshipful Master Andrew D Kelly II, Senior Warden James Gardner, Junior Warden Gregg Johnson, Secretary Bro Maury Leach, Senior Deacon Toni Cruz, Past Master and District Grand Master (equivalent to Provincial Grand Officer) Nicholas Brown. 16th Annual Meeting of the Lodges of Charity 14th May 2004

The ceremony performed by the lodge was a Raising, in attendance was the Assistant Grand Master Yorkshire, West Riding along with 114 Brethren. Amongst our guests were 74 Brethren representing 9 Lodges of Charity who were able to attend. They included Lodge of Charity No. 223 Plymouth, Lodge of Charity No. 350 Farnworth, Lodge of Hope & Charity No. 377 Kidderminster, Lodge of Charity No. 1551 Birmingham, Lodge of Charity No. 2651 Warrington, Charity Centenary Lodge No. 3786 Farnworth, Lodge of Charity No. 8769 Nottingham and Charity Masonic Lodge No. 688 Belfast (Irish Constitution).

 

Many of the visiting Brethren commented how much they had enjoyed our moving and sincere working of the Raising under the York Rite. At the festive board we served "Traditional Yorkshire Fare", the menu comprising

Yorkshire Pudding served with Onion Gravy

Roast Beef with Horseradish Sauce

Apple Pie with Wensleydale Cheese

Yorkshire Parkin and Coffee

 

For those interested in statistics of the 114 brethren who attended there were:

Over 22 Lodges from 8 Provinces, Derbyshire, Devonshire, East Lancashire, Nottinghamshire, West Lancashire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire, and Co. Down in the Irish Constitution. There were 3 Worshipful Masters who were in the chair of a Lodge of Charity.
